Why Astro is incredibly fast

In this second post, we are going to talk about Astro Islands. This is the core architecture that makes Astro websites load so incredibly quickly compared to traditional Single Page Applications (SPAs).

Zero JS by Default

Unlike React or Vue applications that ship megabytes of JavaScript just to render a static page, Astro strips away 100% of your UI framework’s JavaScript by default. The HTML you send down the wire is purely static!

What if I need interactivity?

When you do need interactivity (like an image carousel or a persistent shopping cart), Astro lets you explicitly hydrate just those specific components using a technique called partial hydration.

This ensures maximum performance while remaining highly flexible.
